Specific
functions of the Police Department include:
Parking
enforcement: Enforcement
of the street maintenance program from April 1 until December 1
each year. Please obey the signs that regulate which day
of the week that will occur from 8 A.M. until 2 P.M. After
December 1, those signs also indicate which side will be
enforced on snow removal over 2”. The maintenance program
includes street sweeping, road and gutter work, tree trimming
and other jobs that may be required. The Police Department
actively patrols Grand Avenue for violators who park over the
curb and parkway and in the restricted times that are posted.
The police department also enforces vehicle sticker violations
to all vehicles that do not have a current vehicle sticker.
Traffic Enforcement:
The Police Department is very dedicated to keeping our streets
safe, and has increased the traffic enforcement program.
To avoid receiving a citation, please obey our speed and stop
signs, and remember .08% blood-alcohol is the limit in Illinois.
Curfew:
The Police Department takes a proactive
position on curfew violations. Children under 17 years of age have a
curfew of 10:30 P.M. until 6:00 A.M. Sunday through Thursday, and 11:30 P.M.
until 6:00 A.M. Friday and Saturday. Parents please have your children
obey the curfew laws, and avoid receiving a local ordinance citation with a
mandatory hearing date.
Community
Oriented Policing:
In this past year the Police Department created a Community
Oriented Policing Program for the Village of River Grove.
The Police Department has conducted 3 meetings in the last 4
months in specific areas that demonstrated a need or a problem
in their neighborhood. The Police Department is in the
process of holding more meetings in the future, and looks
forward to communicating and working with our citizens and their
needs.
