Village President
Marilynn has been a resident and an active member of
this community for over forty years. She raised her sons
Anthony and the late Nicholas in River Grove, which
inspired her commitment to community service. While
raising her children, Marilynn was active in the River
Grove School PTA for 12 years, and also volunteered in
various capacities with the River Grove Little League
and Cub Scout Troop 142 during that time period. Her
involvement with her children’s activities soon grew
into assisting with the functions of the Village, where
she helped create and then lead some of the most lasting
and successful local volunteer civic organizations,
including the Beautification Committee, the Friends of
River Grove History, and the Riverfront Fest. In
addition to her work with these volunteer committees,
Marilynn is a member of River Grove’s Lions Club, the
River Park Moose Lodge, the River Grove Chamber of
Commerce, and the Women’s Auxiliary Unit of American
Legion Post 335; and an avid supporter of River Grove
School, Rhodes School, St. Cyprian, Bethlehem Lutheran,
Grace Church of Christ, the River Grove Bible Church,
River Grove Little League, Rockets Girls Softball,
Guerin College Prep, Leyden High School, and Triton
College.
In addition to her
volunteer work, Marilynn began her public service career
with the Village of River Grove in 1986. Since that
time, she has served as Assistant to the President,
Deputy Village Clerk and Personnel Director, all of
which provided her with valuable insight and experience
in the operations and administration of the Village’s
services and programs. Whether it is securing a grant
for the village, the hiring of village employees, or
ensuring that village services are being delivered
properly to the residents, Marilynn has the hands on
experience to confront and resolve the various issues
that
In May, 2000, Marilynn
began her career as a representative of the people when
she became a member of the Board of Trustees. She was
re-elected to this office in 2001, and in June, 2004,
she was elected Acting President of the Village. In
April, 2005, Marilynn was elected President of the
Village and continues to serve in this office.
